ALSO. My good friend Christy Finn has started an awesome new project, which I would love to point you all towards. Let me give you all some context.

There is a new website called TextNovel. The idea is to write novels in very short chapters, roughly 500 words. They are running a contest right now for romantic stories of at least 6000 words or 20 chapters, with the idea that the winner will get published.

A blurb from their site: "Textnovel is a social network for authors and readers of serial fiction and the first English language cell phone novel website, allowing members to write and read fiction with their cellphones or computers, using text messaging, email and online tools. Textnovel runs contests for fiction writers, allowing them to demonstrate the market potential of their work through its unique serial publication and voting format. Textnovel.com was founded by Stan Soper, who offers literary agency services to aspiring writers."

This is really awesome. They're looking at stories that get reader attention, that get votes and that have a positive and strong reaction from people who read the genre. Now, I know that romance gets a lot of flack but there are some strong writers, some amazing stories and some awesome characters that end up in these tales and it would suck to miss out on that due to genre bias. *ahem*

Christy's novel is a romance, kind of chick lit-y but I have to tell you, her voice is AMAZING. Funny and honest, she writes the kind of woman that you know, that you might be, that you might WANT to be. Christy is also a HUGE hockey fan and she knows her stuff (you can check out her hockey blog here)- her hero is a hot, hot, HOT hockey player that I am already in love with and we're only on part 4.

Reboot fic, mind-meld fic... it's got it all and the voice this writer has is just spot on. Really, REALLY funny. And in the end, a surprisingly sweet move on Kirk's part- I think I kind of love him. Like, a LOT.

Hell of a Sight by dragojustine - SG-1, Daniel/Jack, NC-17

Wow. I just... words escape me. This is... this kind of kink that really turns my crank. I mean, if I have a button, this is it.

dragojustine takes the Jack and Daniel dynamic and really works it but opens up a side of Daniel that not many people look at, but totally, TOTALLY should.

There is a definite sub/dom aspect going on here but it's... gentle isn't exactly the right word but it's the one that keeps popping in my head. I think that's because this is sex that many would call deviant and yet, unlike many writers out there who see deviant and dark as ALWAYS having to go hand in hand, dragojustine takes deviant and makes it almost sweet.

Daniel wants to look and to touch and wants Jack to HEAR what Daniel thinks- about Jack's body, about what Daniel wants to do to his body- and he knows that despite all protests to the contrary, it turns Jack on as well. And the fact that they know each other so well and can work each others buttons so that they both have an amazingly good time is also a kink of mine. I seem to have a lot of those. *blushes*

This felt like the kind of sex people in real relationships have. Real relationships where you admit that you like to be spanked or you want to be bitten or you'd like to do the biting- and your partner goes for it with you because they love you and are willing to take that path with you. And many times, they're right there with you anyway because like attracts like, you know?

Wow, that maybe said more about me than this fic but...

This is *by far* one of the best Jack/Daniel's I have ever read.

I cannot express how hot this story is. I mean, this is smoking hot, really well done bringing the SPN world into the Firefly universe and it just works. The story sings along, the sex makes sense (esp. for these characters) and I believe completely that they would hook up this way.

If you are a fan of Dean, of Kaylee or of het porn in general, please, PLEASE click and read. You will not regret it.

Um, als_wonderland? Have you read this? It's the prequel to Of Bastard Saints, which, by the way, I just downloaded to listen to on my iPod.

Called Silent In Flames, it's hot. Amazingly hot and full of Dean and Andrew goodness. Set during Stanford-era, it's awesomesauce.

So, when Bear and I were home at Christmas, my good friend als_wonderland mentioned that she was reading A History of Salt and thought it would make the good basis or starting point for a SPN fic. I open up my friends list this morning and see a rec for just that- a story inspired by a paragraph in the aforementioned book.
