I'm throwing the hat out, again.
I mentioned before that I'm doing the Avon Walk For Breast Cancer.
Well, it's time: the big walk is THIS SATURDAY.
Yikes!
I'm still trying to raise money. I'm *way* short of my goal and if I don't meet it, I don't walk.
All donations I have already collected go to the cause but I don't get my spot on the starting line. :(
So, I'm asking again for donations towards this wonderful cause.
Some of you have already given- THANK YOU SO MUCH!
If you haven't and were looking for a charity to support this year, this is a great one!
All donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE and can be made on-line.
Please click here and make a donation.
Thank you so much for supporting this amazing organization.
Pass the word along if you know people who would be interested in participating or donating- every little bit helps!
Thanks so much guys- your support means the world to me!

My Avon Walk Page, where you can donate
I’ve decided to do the big breast cancer walk here in Los Angeles, which will require both a lot of training and a lot of fundraising. Whew! I’m just getting started, as you can see by my little thermometer on my page, but I have set my sights on reaching my donation goal before August. So, I’m starting the shilling now. ;)
But in all seriousness, I am committed. This is a big deal to me. My Grandma Laura was a breast cancer survivor, until her death last December. My step-sister Amy is a survivor still.
While their stories aren’t mine to tell, their experiences have taught me a lot about what we as a global community know and DON’T know about breast cancer.
I know that a big component to fighting breast cancer is catching it in the early stages. We need to EDUCATE people on how to check for abnormalities. We also need to EDUCATE people regarding second opinions and diagnoses that don’t seem right. Lumps should be checked out and if your doctor doesn’t feel a biopsy is necessary, there should be resources available to find a doctor who does. That is a component of our fundraising with this event.
We need money for RESEARCH. We learn new things each and every day about our bodies, about the chemicals we put in our bodies and what they can do to and for us. Digging into the mysteries of the human body takes lots of research and study and to do that effectively, it takes money. By raising funds for various research facilities, universities and hospitals, we can aid these incredible scientists and doctors in their quest for better treatment and, hopefully, a cure.
There is also the issue of SUPPORT. Many women (and men) out there are either under insured or have no insurance at all. While they are fighting this disease, they need help to continue with treatment, to provide meals, child care and basic human needs when those folks can’t supply them for themselves. By donating money to this cause, we can help those organizations whose sole purpose is to make life easier and to carry the burden for someone else.
Times are tough right now and many people are barely scraping by. But I know that breast cancer has touched many of our lives. Many of us have lost people we love to cancer or have prayed for and stood by loved ones who have fought it.
I am asking you to help support me in this walk with your hard earned dollars- whatever you can spare- to help me reach my to goal to walk and to help reach OUR GOAL of eradicating breast cancer once and for all.
Please, click on the link and donate. If you would prefer to write a check, please contact me and I can send you the information and form. If anyone wants to help raise money but does not want to walk themselves OR can’t walk themselves, drop me a line and I can help get you involved in a non-walker capacity.
Thank you kindly in advance.
