BSG rocked! I just hope that SG:U can live up to the other two previous series fans expectations.

I agree- Battlestar was pretty awesome. But it was telling a very specific story set in a very specific world. What I DON'T want is for Stargate to try to do the same thing. It's not set up to be as dark as BSG. It has dark moments, don't get me wrong, but it's not based int he kind of darkness and bleakness that BSG seemed to be.

I liked what SGA and SG-1 were. i liked what they were doing and the place they held on my TV and in my heart. For those shows to be cancelled and replaced with what appears to be a rip off of both BSG and ST:Voyager, that makes me a bit upset.

I will gladly eat my words if the show turns out to be awesome. I will shout from the mountaintops, etc. if it's really good. But the guys who wrote SGA, frankly, can't write women for shit and have a hard time following through on the hard stuff.

They did an episode, for example, on torture. They knew there was a g'ould hidden on someone, they believed that it was in Caldwell.

This would have been an awesome time to dig into the torture issue and it looked for 3/4 of the episode like that was what they were going to do. And then they didn't. They let it drop and had many of us scratching out heads- what was the point of the story they were trying to tell?

BSG never pulled away from things that were sticky or hard or difficult to talk about. Which made it hard to watch from time to time but it made it very real.

So, to take the visual element of BSG without taking the heart of what that show was, would be a big mistake. In my opinion, of course.
