I wish they'd put up some programming info so we could start thinking about it.

I'd like to get you and Colin host gifts. Would you rather get your choice of pressies at the Con or a nice dinner out (don't forget I'm taking just you out for your bday)? Or something else entirely. And no saying no!

I understand why it takes so long- commitments and such- but it makes planning so tough. I want to make an appointment with the blood drive but without a schedule, I don't know when I can without missing something else.

I am hoping there will be a Star Trek panel but my guess is it will be INSANE. I don't know about a Stargate Universe panel- I'm not happy about the show and I really hate that they canceled John and Rodney for this teeny bopper version of Star Trek Voyager. I want to go to the Supernatural panel but the fans are starting to get really uncomfortably weird.

Hmmm... let me talk to Colin about the host gift thing. You'll be flying out Sunday night, correct? So we'll have you for a little bit at the beginning of the week and then for the con, if I am thinking correctly.

I am really looking forward to seeing you! Yay!!!!

We can make an appointment? I wanted to donate blood, but there's nothing on the site about appointments. When can I go to do that? I have to eat before though, it really hits my blood sugar.

I'd like to go to a Star Trek panel if there is one. Doctor Who would be fun, but is less required this year since we only get an episode every three months and I don't give a crap about the new doctor (will watch, but am not in either camp on this one). If there's an Avatar panel I'd enjoy joining you guys for that. The panels (if they exist) that do excite me right now are Fringe, Dollhouse and Iron Man (for the RDJ), but I think that Iron Man will be psychotic. I'd happily go to SPN with you if you do go. Why are they uncomfotably weird? I'm really really not piped into that fandom (or any really).

I'll be flying in Monday afternoon and out Sunday night.

I'm sooooo excited to see you too! Woohoo!!!!

On another note, who all is in the group? What is the rooming plan like? When were you thinking of heading down on Wednesday?

I thought there was online registration for the blood drive but apparently you need to go to the booth near registration. We can do that Wed. night.

Star Trek- I'd love to see but I'm not fighting crowds like at the Heroes panel last year. I'm just not.

Doctor Who - Not interested, although I hear Tennant is going to be there.

Avatar- I am interested. Not sure if they're going to have a panel with the cartoon peeps or just for the new movie, in which case it might be INSANE.

Fringe- Eh. I'd go to see Walter and Peter but I'm not fighting insane crowds for this one either.

Dollhouse- Not interested.

Iron Man 2 - Not really interested, esp. because the crowds will be nuts for this too. I don't love him enough to wait through that. At least, I don't think I do.

Supernatural- Hell yeah. People ask inappropriate questions (what do you think of slash? Are you sleeping together? why did you dump Sandy?) because they have no social skills and are dickheads. It's that simple. Most of the fans are awesome but there are always those people that just. Don't Get it.

Stargate- I'm torn. I think Universe looks like a pile of shit but if David Hewlett is on any panel, I am totally there.

I am interested in original Trek panels, not for the cast but possibly writers. I'd love to see Ray Bradbury again. I'm going to the quick draw panel again and there were a few smaller panels that I hit last year that I'd love to go to again, like the weird comic covers one- that was a lot of fun.

One of my LJ friends, who used to write harry Potter fic but is now a published author, has posted that she's on a panel at the con so I may go and see her.

At this point, it's you, me, Bear, Morgan, Al2, Jeremy and possibly Justine. I'm not sure if she's going to make it, but I know she bought a ticket. Joe may join us if he gets a professional pass from work but that's a very slim chance.

At this point, we are trying to decide if we want one room or two. This hotel is very expensive and things are tight for some of us. If we do two rooms, it puts it at about $500/person. If we do one room (and Justine does not join us) it's roughly $270/person.

Here's the thing- we do two room, we can get everyone in a bed or a cot. One room, two people are on the floor. We have to find out what the cap is for everyone so we can sort that out right away.

The plan is to head down Wed. night, after Bear gets off work- so leaving about 4, which may suck due to traffic issues. However, we may still make it down to check in that night. He can't take the day off Wed. so there are two options- you and Morgan can head down early and Colin and I follow later OR we all wait. Morgan wants us all to ride together but that is an option.

SO EXCITED!!!!

When are they going to post the schedule?

One of my good friends from work will be down there with her fiance and she's a bit nervous- I told her she could hang with us should she get burnt out with her man. ;) She's really nervous about scheduling and asks me every day if I've heard about the scheduling yet. Hee.

I'm sufficiently interested in Doctor Who that I'm willing to deal with crowds. I don't think I care enough to deal with possible Star Trek madness, but it would be fun to check out if someone else does the early line-waiting.

I didn't even think about an Avatar movie panel. I'm pissed that they couldn't hire a single east asian actor for a movie where every single character is east asian.

I think Fringe, Dollhouse and Doctor Who are the three I'd deal with mega crowds for. If you're interested and there's nothing at the time you're welcome to join me ten minutes before the panels start. I'll save you (and Colin if he watches) seats :).

Are the SPN fans more ridiculous than other fandoms? I've seen people say some pretty lewd things at Doctor Who panels. Though I'm kinda horrified they get personal. Some people have no filter or boundaries.

So, I'm guessing that if we do one room I'd be relegated to the floor, being unmarried, right?

Including traffic, what's your guess at how long it would take if we leave around 4:30?

Have you considered adding some more friends to the hotel room group? Does your friend and her fiance want to join us? With 9 of us in two rooms the price would drop again. I could also see if Angela wants to join. But its up to you all.

They did cast an East Asian actor- the young man from Slumdog Milliionaire will be Zukko. Granted, he's the only one, but that's something. Esp. considering the original casting was Jesse McCartney. Bleh.

Bear may be interested in Fringe but I'm not sure- even when Heroes was his fav, he had no interest in the crowds but you never know.

I don't think SPN fans are better or worse than other fans- well, I take that back. They're worse than the SG-1/SGA fans. They tend to be younger and have less... boundaries.

If we go one room, you'd probably be on the floor.

That's a hard question re: traffic. Con traffic will make things worse and normal traffic will be a bitch. It'll be at least 2 hours.

My friend is already part of a group of 9 who already have rooms. No one else I know have passes to the con already so they can't come. My mate Shireen has been staffed on the new NBC drama Trauma! and if they are at the con at all, she may get a pass but I don't know for sure on that. You can talk to Angela and see what she says. She may also have a few more pals that would be willing to share a room with us.

The thing to mention is that while the cost is fairly high, we are right across teh street from the con. The only rooms closer are at the hotel connected to the convention center. I was also thinking about friends locking a post on LJ and see if anyone is going that I know but needs a better room.

I haven't heard from Justine yet so... we'll just have to see.

re: Leverage- I have no idea what's going to be there. They haven't posted a schedule yet so I'm just throwing out ideas for what I'd *like* to see.

Apparently, Jensen and Aldis were in Portland to sing happy birthday to Chris Kane when he had a concert there on his b-day. ADORE THEM!

What about Alicia's friends who are going to the con? How would you feel about them joining us?

I'm sorry to say, I'm not really looking forward to curling up in some corner of floor in a sleeping bag.

What is the room cost per night, anyway? Have you heard back from people regarding what they're wanting to pay?
